The capability to manage patient emergencies:

  • The regular delivery of medications to patients, whether they require a prescription or not, is an integral part of daily health management.
  • Foster teamwork among nursing staff to facilitate efficient patient care and medication distribution.
  • Ensure to comply with the written or oral directions on managing your medication to avoid any errors.
  • Write down the medication name, dosage, and frequency on a separate sheet of paper and post it in a prominent location to remind you of your medication schedule.
  • Observe individuals and record any modifications in their physical state.
  • Use effective communication skills when responding to patient requests through bells or intercom systems to ensure that the patient's needs are understood.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A person must possess a minimum of a Certified Medication Assistant (MAC) certification to be eligible for the position
  • The possession of a Medication Administration certificate issued by the state is required, which remains current and valid
  • To be effective in the long-term care arena, it is imperative to possess extensive knowledge of nursing and medical procedures and protocols, as well as relevant legislation
  • The minimum age a person must possess is 20 years
  • Individuals must be competent in their English skills, able to both speak, read, write, and understand it with ease
  • Expectations for anyone working with the elderly and disabled include demonstrating exceptional patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude
